Eight piece band, Fay Ray, has released a soulful, pop, record entitled “Restless Sleeper” from thier two track project. ‘The song is about the experience of watching a loved one have nightmares and night terrors, and the sense of helplessness that accompanies that experience”, according to Fechik.
With eight moving parts topped by the electric vocals of Mariel Fechik, the Chicago band’s funk and jazz influence has grown into a character all its own. Fay Ray’s debut EP No Love, released Oct 2017, brought the band’s chemistry and collaboration into the spotlight, with four diverse tracks that explore the intricacies of romantic relationships. Their new release, a double single called Up & Away || Restless Sleeper, sees them honing in on their particular brand of spacey, dreamy funk/neo-soul.
