Sam Higginson has released a smooth new single, ‘Musical Oasis.’ This is the first of three songs that will be released over the coming months before the EP in April. I love the R&B fused with a little island vibe to create a lush atmosphere of sorts. It’s such a peaceful song really. His vocal range is insane. I could listen to an album worth of his music. It’s so smooth like butter over the already nice groove the instrumental makes alone.
He spoke about what inspired the song, ‘I wrote ‘Musical Oasis’ a couple of years ago before driving home from Uni. I was sitting in my car, checking my socials when I heard a snippet of an original song written by my talented friends Maari. Their song, ‘Breathe’ resonated with me so much that I began crying in my car. The somber raw lyrics, rise, and fall of the piano and the beautiful harmonies were so so beautiful!”
He continued, ‘This little video made me realize how each element of a song, from the melody to the harmony and finally to the beat, can make you feel something. Whether it’s each element working independently or all of those elements coming together as a collective whole. This was the soul feeling of the song. I started writing the lyrics in the car and then came up with melody and chords when I got home, using my loop pedal to fill out the ideas! 9 months later I’m in the studio recording ‘Musical Oasis’ with the lyricist behind ‘Breathe’ Dominic. One big beautiful circle!”
This track definitely puts you into a peaceful oasis that you don’t want to leave. I can’t wait for more.
