Fox’s crazed music drama, Star, has been cancelled after three seasons of amazing writing, profound actors and hit music.
Its producing studio, former Fox sibling 20th Century Fox TV, is already shopping it to other platforms.
Star’s cancellation is not unexpected. According to Dealine, Fox’s decision to pick up four new drama series led to the ending of Star and a few other shows. Star was created by Lee Daniels, the same person who created the other music drama on Fox, Empire.
Star raked in solid numbers but hit a ratings low last November. The musical drama is expensive to produce, and its international sales have been challenging, which made the renewal decisions a bit more complex.
Star, which premiered on December 14, 2016 with Empire as its lead-in, starred Queen Latifah, Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny, Brittany O’Grady, Amiyah Scott and Quincy Brown. Scott became the third openly transgender person to play a major trans character in a scripted television drama series. The show was a hit from the first episode. The third season’s series finale ended with mutilple killings and left many fans with thousands of questions.
So much so that fans started a petition on Change.org to get the show picked back up. It’s goal is to reach 35,000 sigutures. Within a day, it has gotten 30k. You can sign it here. (I already did)
We will keep you updated and hopefully they will here us fans. (Haha)
